Linux Opens the PS3 to Hacking
PS3 Blue-Ray images already being dumped to ISOs
Tuesday, November 28th, 2006
As previously mentioned, the new Playstation 3 allows for the install of additional OSes, including Linux. That ability has now opened the door to a bit of a hacking, including dumping Blue-Ray disc image images directly to the PS3 hard drive as an ISO.
There’s probably not a great deal one can do with the ISO at this point but I imagine we’ll start to see some interesting stuff in the next couple of weeks.
What to expect next? One poster predicts, “Get ready for 20 updates to try and disable third party applications.”
