Reuters reports that Red Hat won’t drop their support prices in response to Oracle’s competitive support solution and distribution based on Red Hat’s source code, Unbreakable Linux 2.0

CEO Matthew Szulik told CNBC he believes that Oracle’s cost-cutting move will only draw over some of the company’s smaller customers.

Szulik’s comments had the intended effect. Red Hat’s stock, falling by as much as 25% following the announcement, pulled out of it’s slide and started down the long road of recovery, posting a small gain for the day.

Szulik went on to say that the company’s seven-year partnership with Oracle will continue.

Regardless, it is clear that the lines have been drawn. The company just launched an “Unfakeable Linux” section of it’s website.
